Research Data Sets: Physiography
Physiography (e.g., soil developmental phase, landscape position and landforms) defines the geologic and pedologic template for the ecosystem and modifies the relationship between precipitation and soil water content, thereby affecting soil microbes, invertebrates, biogeochemical processes, and plant and animal communities. In addition to describing the spatial distribution of organisms and processes across different landscape elements, we study ecohydrological and pedological controls on water distribution, especially soil moisture, within and among landscapes and how landscape variability influences ANPP, species composition, key processes, and sensitivity of SGS to forecasted climatic change.
